The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is a global science video competition for students aged 13 to 18. Participants are required to create a short video (maximum 2 minutes) explaining a complex concept in physics, life sciences, or mathematics. The goal is to communicate this idea in a clear, engaging, and creative way.

  • Eligibility: Students must be between 13 and 18 years old as of specific dates in 2024. The competition is open globally, including homeschooled students and students with disabilities.

  • Submission Process: Participants submit a video via YouTube and must also score at least five peer submissions as part of the Peer-to-Peer Review by July 10, 2024.

Prizes:

  • $250,000 for a post-secondary scholarship.
  • $50,000 for an inspirational teacher.
  • $100,000 to fund a science lab for the winner’s school.
